The best species to plant are the ones which occur naturally in the locality and therefore suited to the local conditions.

It has long been recognised that native trees and shrubs are the most valuable because:

  • They support a much greater variety of animals and plants than introduced species;
  • They thrive in particularly harsh local conditions and
  • They are more likely to survive and flourish than most introduced species

The requirement to provide a landscape scheme for the Council’s approval and to subsequently implement and maintain the scheme is a condition of planning permission. This will often form a material consideration in the determination of all relevant planning applications.

Landscape issues must be regarded as an integral part of the planning process, with consideration given to the form and use of all spaces from the earliest stage.

ARBOR CONSULTING can provide comprehensive native landscape schemes for all types of planning and private projects.
